EasyJet has launched an advertising campaign highlighting its row with Luton Council over airport charges.

The 'head in the sand' campaign criticises Luton Borough Council for failing to prevent the airport increasing charges.

"The Council buries its head in the sand while hundreds of jobs are at stake at Luton Airport which is owned by the Council," said the airline's Paul Simmons, easyJet's general manager UK.

"Their 'Nothing to do with me' attitude is completely at odds with the worries of voters and businesses in Luton.

"EasyJet, for instance, wants to create jobs in Luton, but we need our elected representatives to stand up to Abertis who have made the airport uncompetitive."
