Published airport charges in Europe on the increase in 2009

Early results from analysis done by airportcharges.com suggests that, despite the global economic downturn, airport charges are being increased over 2008 levels across a broad swathe of countries.

The 2009 charges for the majority of commercial airports in Austria, Finland, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden, together with a number of airports in France, Germany and the Netherlands, have all increased. However, the increases are usually no more than 3% to 4%, so in real terms the charges at most of the airports analysed are merely keeping pace with inflation.

Among the countries with the lowest increases is Sweden, where charges have risen by less than 2%, and in some cases have barely moved relative to 2008.

Subscribers to airportcharges.com can now access the 2009 charges for more than 200 airports, with more being added on a daily basis.
